Motherhood + Business Owner = Success?

This picture has been pretty representative for my participation in the whole coaching program leading up to my certification, and even more so during the last month, when I participated in an intense business course learning how to market my coaching business. My absolutely wonderful baby Flora by my desk, typing along with me!

A Double-Edged Sword Dilemma

Most days I have been fortunate enough to get complete silence in my home office to focus and take as much time as needed to study and complete the tasks since my amazing and supportive partner is on paternity leave and has been taking care of Flora. So much love and support in order for me to be able to follow my dream of helping other people find balance, purpose, and confidence through coaching, blogging, and motivational speaking.

However, the past couple of months have also presented a very tricky dilemma – a feeling of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) on precious time with my baby girl when I’m spending a lot of time on my coaching and building my business, but on the other hand, also a FOMO when NOT spending time on my coaching and building my business. A “doomed if you do and doomed if you don’t” kind of feeling - like a double-edged sword - that was a bit new to me being a first-time mom AND a first-time business owner!

Embracing A New Mindset

But instead of feeling stressed about it and torn between two things I love, I decided to completely change my mindset to this whole new challenge: Instead of being caught in the negative feeling of having to choose between things I love, I started to focus on gratitude for being blessed with the possibility to do two things I love: to both be a mom AND run my coaching business! Both-and, as opposed to either-or. One area can fuel love and energy into the other. I will be a successful business owner because of the purpose and love I get from spending time with my baby - and I will be an attentive, loving, and caring mother because I’m following my purpose and my WHY – and I will radiate this purpose-filled happiness when spending time with her.

I have a REALLY strong desire to follow my dream, my passion, and my purpose for coaching, and I have an equally REALLY strong desire to show my little girl that anything is possible if you just dare to trust your intuition and listen to that inner voice. To be unapologetically yourself.

From Torn To Whole

I have learned that if I just give what I have in front of me in this very moment my full undivided attention, this way I’ll know that I’m always doing my best, as a mom and as a business owner. And with that new perspective, instead of feeling torn between two worlds and roles, I feel whole and complete. ❤️
